Description & Services
Description The Cat Adoption and Education Centre located in the Thornhill Community Centre and Library is not just for adoptions. We provide a number of educational and therapy programs. One of these programs is our newly introduced reading program, generously supported by RBC Royal Bank. We offer the program two times per week, Tuesday and Friday between 4pm-5pm. Reading can be challenging, especially in the beginning, and what better way to get some practice in then reading to a snuggly kitty cat! The idea is that animals do not judge or criticize, they are just there to listen and be loved!! Reading is therapeutic to both people and the kitties! We encourage participants to arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled session and head over to the library to select the puuuurfect reading material!! Then head on over to the Cat Adoption and Education Centre, pick your favourite furry friend and read to them. There are two setting options; the first for those less comfortable with a kitty roaming all around them, they can pull up a chair to one of our larger cages and read to multiple cats, and the second for those who like to snuggle, they can enter our “Kitty Corner” and get cozy on our couch with a kitty. We do ask that children under the age of 5 are accompanied by an adult and those 6 and older have adults that remain close to the Centre (outside in the atrium).
