|Description & Services|
|Description||The Community Safety Village is an interactive, educational facility where children learn about fire, traffic and personal safety. Visits to the village are booked through York Region schools - an online booking system, but the public is encouraged to join us during the many special events we hold throughout the year. Police Week Open House in May, Halloween in the Village in October and Holidays in the Village in early December.
The village features a 10,000 square foot learning centre with tri service learning, police, paramedic and fire education classrooms, complete with working traffic lights and signals, water safety house, and a fully equipped apartment where students learn to plan and execute a safe escape in case of an emergency.
The grounds contain a miniature village featuring more than 30 scaled-down buildings, roadways, operational traffic lights, signs and a railway crossing Police Station, Fire Hall and Paramedic Center. Children have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of the rules of the road through the use of bicycles, battery-operated mini-cars and a walking tour of the village.
New to the CSV is the Paramedic Program providing interactive 60 minute lessons designed for JK - grade 5 students in all three areas.
