We are looking for a fundraising support volunteer who can help us in prospecting new companies and organizations to fundraise on behalf of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, by researching, cold calling and qualifying companies by phone. As well, as a volunteer, you will helping out with email management, developing and sending out newsletters, and managing our host site contracts.
If you are comfortable cold calling, have excellent customer service/sales/phone skills and experience, and are results-focused, then this is the volunteer role for you! For this role, you need to be able to volunteer for a minimum of 1 day a week during workday hours (Mon-Friday) for a minimum 3 month commitment (April-end of June).

For over 20 years, Starlight Children’s Foundation has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses and life-altering injuries by providing entertainment, education and family activities that help them cope with the pain, fear and isolation of prolonged illness.
WALK FOR SMILES
On Saturday, September 29th Starlight Children’s Foundation will be inviting 500 or more participants out to walk in Toronto for the 7th Annual Walk for Smiles. Our National goal is to raise $150,000 for Starlight Children’s Foundation, and with YOUR help we will! The Walk for Smiles is a 5K family walk that is organized entirely by a dedicated group of volunteers, committed to planning and collaborating on one of Starlight’s biggest events of the year.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Collaborating with the Toronto Walk Coordinator, the Walk for Smiles Committee will perform some of or all of the following:
• Working with fellow committee members to identify and approach prospective local sponsors
• Identifying and targeting areas of the GTA to advertise the Walk for Smiles
• Recruit new walkers and volunteers for the day of the event
• Identify and approach donors to secure in-kind raffle and fundraising prizes
• Create an atmosphere in keeping with the theme and spirit of the Foundation and the Walk
• Be present on the event day as a volunteer to ensure that the event runs as planned
• Ensure that all benchmarks are being met throughout the planning process
• Be open to additional projects and opportunities that will present themselves leading up to the Walk
TIME COMMITMENT
A seven (7) month commitment is required for this position with obligatory attendance at monthly meetings that will take place throughout the term. During the 3 months leading up to the Walk, volunteers may be required to meet more regularly depending upon availability.
