DutiesVisit with client by phone or in person according to schedule for the duration of the assignment. Submit monthly time sheets to the Volunteer Program. Be an ambassador for the ALS Society of Ontario.
ClientsALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease is a progressively paralayzing and fatal neuromuscular disease. Within five years after diagnosis, those living with ALS lose the ability to move speak and eventually breathe. ALS Ontario helps people living with ALS and their families manage the effects of the disease by providing equipment and support services, including education, awareness, child and youth programs and peer support groups.

Additional RequirementsTo complete volunteer training program and continue to pursue further learning & education regarding issues relevant to palliative care throughout volunteer experience. To uphold the client's right to dignity and self-determination. To inform immediate superior in a timely manner if unable to fulfill duties. To adhere to the ALS Society of Ontario Policies and Procedures. To maintain a clear vision of the volunteer role with clients. To sign a Volunteer Pledge and attend an evaluation on an annual basis.
