DutiesAs a Trail Volunteer, we have 2 opportunities: 
1) Laed Walks: Plan and lead public hikes, walks and/or other outings on the Rouge Park trails to offer a variety of trail experiences covering various: audiences, distances/pacing, times of day, days of week, Rouge Park themes ie. fitness, natural heritage, cultural heritage, nature/wildlife. Present a positive, consistent image to Park visitors. Deliver Code of Conduct messaging and enforcement. Encourage visitors on you hikes/walks to come back and try other walks. 
 
2) Amabassador: Welcoming visitors at trailheads, introducing or updating them on the Park's trails and habitat areas. Helping build an outing for visitors to best see the Park. Roam trails in pairs greeting visitors who are 'self guided'; offer navigation, interpretation, guidance for further visits. Deliver Code of Conduct messaging and enforcement. Present a positive, consistent image to Park visitors. Encourage visitors on you hikes/walks to come back and try other walks and Park events.
BenefitsWith successful orientation and training, Rouge Park Trail Volunteers will gain invaluable technical and soft skills to: Increase outdoors/trail skills, both practical and leadership. Develop public speaking/personal presentation. Gain confidence in working with groups. Teach new hikers/walkers trail skills and encourage them further. Increase the ability to respond to a first aid occurrence. Be an Ambassador for Rouge Park - on and off the trail.

Saturday: Morning, Afternoon ((noon, 2pm last Saturday of month)) 
Sunday: Morning, Afternoon ((9:30, noon, 2pm on various Sundays)) 
 
We offer a truly unique, fun group in which to volunteer, and grow in many ways. Placement will be based on where need is greatest between the two opportunities. Both are equally rewarding and following the first year commitment, volunteers can transfer between roles if availability permits.

Commitment LengthLong Term ; Long Term; One year minimum commitment. Commit to minimum of 1 shift per month, 2 if possible. Special/private outings may be requested. Attend Leader meetings for development and communications.
TrainingOrientation - Rouge Park Trails ; Hike Ontario Safe Hiking Program, Hike Ontario Certified Hike Leader, Rouge Park Interpretation, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
TransportationOn Bus Route ; On Bus Route ; Car would be an asset to have for certain trailheads.
Interaction LevelYou would interact directly with the public, and be self-supervised on the trail.

You will outfit yourself with the proper gear and clothing for the weather and the season. Some gear and clothing will be supplied.
