| Description | The Society exists to govern the legal profession in Ontario. A number of services to the public include: Lawyer Referral Service (LRS): Will put clients in touch with a lawyer in their geographic area; the lawyer will provide up to 1/2 hour of free consultation. This service is not designed to provide second opinions or legal advise Phone: 1-900-565-4577 (toll services of $6.00 apply). Email: lawrefer@lsuc.on.ca. Crisis Line: 1-800-268-8326 (for individuals experiencing domestic abuse, are in an institution, or are under the age of majority). Service available Mon-Fri 9:00am-5:00pm Lawyers Fund for Client Compensation: Fund helps clients who have lost money because of a lawyer's dishonesty. Will reimburse up to a maximum of $100,000.
