| Description | Employment Source – Markham is one of the five EO locations of JVS Toronto, and it is a one-stop service centre that assists job seekers with preparation for securing sustainable employment and achieving career goals. Services are customized to meet the individual needs of each job seeker. Services range from resource and information, job search workshops, access to Second Career, employment counseling, as well as job placement and job retention services. This centre also offers bridging programs for newcomers - Integrated Work Experience Strategy (IWES), Coaching to Career, and International Professionals Learning to Access Careers and Employment (IPLACE) – and a Youth Reach Program. Resource and Information Services: Job search workshops on resume writing; interview skills and networking to access the hidden job market; information and resources on careers; occupations & local labour market; one-on-one computer job search coaching; on-site job fairs; community resources; job postings; and one-on- one resume critiquing. Assisted Services: Employment assessment and counselling; career exploration; assistance with developing and implementing action plans; referral to appropriate services and programs including Second Career assessment, Apprenticeship program, and Self-Employment Ontario Benefit (OSEB); and job matching and placement. Second Career: Support to recently laid-off unemployed workers who require training for employment in high-skill, high-demand occupations. Apprenticeship Program: Assists individuals to access apprenticeship opportunities. JVS Youth Reach II Program: Provides employment counselling for youth in York Region, aged 15 to 30, out of school and out of work who have come in conflict with the law. Integrated Work Experience Strategy (IWES): Provides a bridge-to-work program for unemployed or underemployed internationally trained professionals in Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Coaching to Career: Is uniquely designed to provide Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs) with an up-close, one-on-one perspective of working in Ontario’s ICT sector. International Professionals Learning to Access Careers and Employment (IPLACE): Aims at preparing internationally trained individuals with necessary skills and tools to become Job Developers/ Employment Practitioners in the non-profit industry. | |||
