| Description | Providing services for sexual assault and domestic abuse victims * Provide a coordinated system to ensure people receive the immediate specialized treatment they require and that they are referred to appropriate agencies for follow-up care * Will also help those suddenly going into crisis years after suffering sexual abuse * If a recent assault a nurse will meet the victim in the emergency department at York Central Hospital * Available options will be reviewed * Medication may be necessary for trauma and sexually transmitted diseases * client will be referred for follow up and possibly counselling * Risk assessment and safety planning offered * Referral for long-term counselling if needed * Acute care within 72 hours of sexual assault or 2 weeks of physical assault; counselling age 14 and older |
